Jamboree youth positions still available: The Palmetto Council’s contingent to the 2010 National Jamboree still has a few youth slots available. We have had several recent cancellations and are looking for a couple of scouts to fill these vacancies. If you know of scouts who may interested in becoming part of this historic centennial scouting event contact the council office or fill out an online jamboree participants application at http://www.bsajamboree.org/
Jamboree contingent making plans for the first pre-jamboree training event:
On November 20 -22nd the Palmetto Council will hold the first of two pre-jamboree training events. This is a mandatory event for all jamboree participants. This first event will be used to select jamboree youth leadership, order jamboree patches and discuss other important jamboree information. More details about this event are available on the “Major Activities” jamboree web page on this website.
Registered adult scouters can help us with our pre-jamboree training event:
The November pre-jamboree training event will be a significant step in our jamboree training and planning. We will assemble 150 jamboree scouts, scouters, and staff at Camp Bob Hardin on November 20 -22nd. During this event we will be selecting our jamboree youth leadership, ordering jamboree uniform patches/activity shirts/hats, and providing other important jamboree information essential to planning our participation. We are soliciting help and volunteers from registered adult scouters to help with this important event. Many scouters who are attending the 2010 National Jamboree as staff have already agree to help us, but we still need additional assistance with registration-check in, preparing and serving meals, assisting with games, and all other weekend activities. All volunteers to this event will receive (2) special jamboree staff council shoulder patches.
If you are currently a registered adult scouter with up-to-date Youth Protection Training and are interested in helping in this important pre-jamboree event or would like more information about the Palmetto Council’s National Jamboree contingent please send your response or inquiries to jambo2010@bellsouth.net. In early November I will send out a detailed list of staff assignments for this event
